SPORTS PHYSIATRY

PREVENTION, MANAGEMENT AND REHABILITATION

Equine sports physiatry is a branch of equine veterinary medicine emphasizing the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical impairments or disabilities affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and fascia in the equine athlete. The focus of a sports physiatry session is the prevention, early detection and management of health and lameness related issues. After a comprehensive assessment of the horse we will use manual therapies (chiropractic, myofascial release, …), physical modalities (laser, taping, cupping, …) and/or acupuncture to improve the health and performance of your horse. We will help coordinating further care/treatment of your horse using a network of interdisciplinary and allied equine professionals (team approach) and empower you, the client, to bring out your horse's true potential with a heart-centred approach.
